Privacy Policy

ClipVal (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a private, one-tap clipboard vault app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using ClipVal, you agree to this policy.

1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may process:

• Vault content you create (on device) — item titles, values, categories, pin flags, and related metadata you enter. Values are encrypted at rest (AES-256) on your device. Titles and some metadata may not be encrypted.
• App settings — preferences such as theme, biometric lock on/off, view mode (grid/list), and clipboard auto-clear timeout.
• Biometrics — if you enable app lock, ClipVal uses the system Face ID / Touch ID / passcode APIs. We only receive a yes/no authentication result. Biometric templates stay in the device secure enclave and are never sent to us.
• Clipboard — when you tap an item, its value is copied to the system clipboard so you can paste elsewhere. Optional auto-clear removes it after a timeout you choose. Clipboard content may be readable by other apps while present (system behavior).
• Export files — if you export your vault, the file is created on your device under your control. We do not receive export files unless you email them to support.
• Support messages — if you email us, we process the content of your message and any diagnostics you include so we can help.

We do not require an account. ClipVal does not operate a cloud vault that receives your item values. Your vault is stored on your local device only (MVP).

3. How we use information

• Provide the vault, one-tap copy, search, categories, pin, and settings features.
• Protect access with optional biometric / device passcode lock.
• Respond to support requests you send us.
• Comply with law when required.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use your vault contents for advertising or profiling.

4. Sharing

We share data only as needed:

• Service providers that process data on our behalf for the website only, including hosting for clipval.app (for example Vercel) for this privacy policy, support, and product landing pages.
• Apple — App Store distribution and related platform services. ClipVal sets ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption to false for standard on-device encryption exempt under Apple’s export compliance guidance.
• Legal — if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

We do not share your vault contents with third parties because we do not host those contents on our servers.

5. Data storage & retention

• Vault data remains on your device until you delete items, clear app data, or uninstall.
• Encryption keys are stored in the system Keychain / secure storage on your device.
• Support emails we receive are retained only as long as needed to resolve your request, unless law requires longer retention.

6. Security

ClipVal encrypts item values at rest with AES-256 and keeps keys in platform secure storage. Optional app lock uses system biometrics. No method of storage is 100% secure — protect your device with a passcode and be careful with plain-text exports.

7. Your choices & rights

• Stop using the app or uninstall at any time (local vault data is removed with the app).
• Turn biometric lock on or off in Settings.
• Export or delete your items from within the app.
• Request help accessing or deleting information you sent us by emailing support.

Depending on where you live (for example EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. Contact us to exercise them.

8. Children

ClipVal is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided us data via support email, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International transfers

Website hosting providers may process web traffic in countries outside where you live. Vault contents stay on your device and are not transferred by us to a ClipVal cloud.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version at https://clipval.app/privacy and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
